GAIM developers yesterday released a new beta release of their 2.0.0 development cycle. There has been some decent changes and improvements in this new beta version, including a new notification tray system (instead of closing the program, it minimises). Font sizes have seen improvements, but nothing major. Try it out for yourself and see what you think.

Edging closer to the final 2.0 release... seems like it's been in beta forever. This seems a little snappier than b3 though, although that might just be the placebo effect of installing a newer version.

well the most obvious chance is the interface where u can choose your buddy icon.... plus "so far" this seems quite a bit more stable than the previous versions (atleast thats what the developers claim) ... cause i did get quite a few crashes with the previous betas.

hopefully this will be stable... plus i heard from there website this might be the last beta before it goes final... but only time will tell.

Why is there an AOL icon in the article?

Because it's IM.

I'm happy they finally released it but there isn't a whole lot new, especially on the visual side of things.

This would be a great client if it had support for Yahoo and AOL Video Chat. Does anybody know of a free IM client that has this?

I love it, much more stable than beta3 for me.
