So, what, this is the same thing as DriverMax except that it's not free and looks worse?

Wow, that looks pretty nasty. Wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.

Have to agree, why pay for something thats already available elsewhere for free, and the devs of DriverMax frequent this site and have been more than accomodating in the past ... http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=34605

DriverMax can't update device drivers and detect unknown devices for your computers, while Driver Magician can do it. Driver Magician can make an auto-executable drivers package, while DriverMax can't.

Your mixing apples and oranges. DriverMax doesn't claim to make auto-executable packages and detect unknown drivers. It's designed to backup your existing drivers.
Driver Magician charges for this added feature.
