Azureus is a Java-based BitTorrent client, with support for I2P and Tor anonymous communication protocols. It is free software and cross-platform, and currently runs under Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and Unix. Azureus implements the BitTorrent protocol using java language and comes bundled with many invaluable features for both beginners and advanced users:

* Multiple torrent downloads
* Upload and download speed limiting, both globally and per torrent
* Advanced seeding rules
* Adjustable disk cache
* and more...

Azureus, Inc. has released an Azureus-powered product named Zudeo, which is intended to enable content providers to easily distribute their content over the Internet. Zudeo is an application powered by Azureus 3.0 that enables users to publish and share creations in high-quality (DVD or HD-quality videos, high-fidelity audio), with unprecedented ease of use. The process takes minutes, and the videos can reach substantially more viewers worldwide, almost instantly. Content creators can also distribute content to millions for free without paying any hosting or bandwidth costs. Zudeo can also help create buzz by spreading the movie across the Internet as easily as if it were a 5 minute video clip.

I was totally confused when i read this, the faq above explained some things but i still don't get it If zudeo is just azureus with a new polished skin and a web content platform build in, why keep 2 separate versions and not just keep going with version 3? From what i read, azureus users can just switch into advanced mode to have the good ol' ui back. I can understand "modular" or "lightweight" reasons but it's still weird. Also how zudeo can compete against other "relevant" ways of publishing media content, like let's say youtube or metacafe ?

Dont get me wrong, i love azureus and been using it for many years now, just the whole zudeo thing is totally new to me

ps: First time posting here, hello all

You can see the old ui still but it's got all the new stuff stays on the top bar. They butchered it.

I still can't get it ... Is Zudeo (and Azureus) affiliated with some kind of anti-piracy organizations?? All this Zudeo thing is odd! And they call it Azureus 3 but isn't infact 2.5 + Zudeo??

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6194929.stm <- looks like BBC is going to bring episodes from their TV series there in HD format.

I don't think so. uTorrent was recently bought by BitTorrent Inc, a company afiliated with the MPAA

So, what's going to happen here? Azureus 2.xx going to fork from Azureus 3.xx/Zudeo? I appreciate that I might be able to catch up on all my missed Dr Who/Red Shift stuff from the BBC, but what features are we losing with the simplifed new version and does it really have everything under it's supposed advanced features? Anyone downloaded and installed it to find out?

Yep. Its the same Azureus that we know and love, but with this cool front end that you can use to browse content and download with just a single click. Just click Advanced on the right and its the exact same client you are familiar with, but with a new toolbar in it.

As long as they meet and exceed current feature set, I'll stick with Azureus, they can call it whatever they want, I don't care! if I can custimze it anyway I want. Its still the most powerfull Bit Torrent, despite claims by "other" Bit Torrent apps.
