well...
after install, i switched to 7.1 surround in the creative audio console. then i went to sound in vista control panel and selected 7.1 speakers. The sound test then worked (it didnt previously).

I've just tried NFS Carbon and its working fine in glorious 7.1 surround ...so i guess these work.

Do these drivers have the direct sound hardware intercept going on? NFS doesnt use openAL does it?

some sounds get bad cracks in em but they're hell of a lot better than the previous drivers. hopefully they get out of beta before launch....

I'm not going to use Vista until all my programs are compatible with it but it is nice to see some beta drivers at least for vista. X-Fi rules
