Thanks to Steven for posting this in BPN.

This software lets you view and print Adobe PDF files on a variety of hardware and operating system platforms. Adobe Reader provides a host of features that enable you to submit PDF forms created with fillable form fields to such applications as Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and Adobe Form Designer. Read and organize high-fidelity e-books. Activate search and accessibility capabilities built into your PDF files, and display Adobe Photoshop Album slide shows and electronic cards.

Invented by Adobe Systems and perfected over 15 years, Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) lets you capture and view robust information — from any application, on any computer system — and share it with anyone around the world. Individuals, businesses, and government agencies everywhere trust and rely on Adobe® PDF to communicate their ideas and vision.

What's New:

The Adobe Acrobat 7.0.9 update addresses a number of critical vulnerabilities identified in Adobe Acrobat 7.0.8 and earlier versions that could allow an attacker who successfully exploits these vulnerabilities to take control of the affected system. This includes a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that could allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary JavaScript into a browser session. It is recommended that users update to the most current version of Acrobat available for their platform. Details of the security vulnerabilities are provided in this security bulletin.

Uh... if you go the web site they advise you to go to 8.

Adobe probably brought out 8 'cause they knew everything else was vulnerable.
