The Microsoft Phonetic Input Tool (Beta) provides an intuitive method that allows users to type English letters that are mapped to a phonetic scheme using a QWERTY keyboard, and then converts these English letters into complex script languages and various encoding formats. The Microsoft Phonetic Input Tool (Beta) is very useful for bilingual and multilingual users who normally use a QWERTY keyboard and would like to type English letters to compose messages or documents in their native Indic language. Users who speak but do not write a language can use the phonetic schemes to write in that language

I have tried the beta and although it is a long awaited feature, the way it is implemented was dumb! Trust Microsoft to take something simple and make it way too complicated. Hopefully RC1 took in all feedback and changed for the better.
