Ad-Aware 2007 is the latest version of Lavasoft’s industry leading anti-spyware solutions. Ad-Aware 2007 allows you to combat the growing threats and latest advancements of malicious spyware and malware. Ad-Aware 2007 protects you from spyware that secretly takes control of your computer, resulting in aggressive advertising pop-ups, sluggish computer activity and even identity theft through stolen private information. We give you the tools to detect hazardous content on your computer, clearly identify their threat level, and then give you the control to remove unwanted content, so that your private information remains right where it should - under your control. Lavasoft’s advanced Code Sequence Identification (CSI) technology roots out deeply hidden malware and then searches for similar codes in order to identity emerging variants. Ad-Aware 2007 thoroughly scans your memory, registry, Hosts file, hard, removable and optical drives for known data-mining, aggressive advertising, parasites, scumware, keyloggers, trojans, dialers, malware, browser hijackers, and tracking components.

Ad-Aware 2007 Features

* Fully redesigned engine – provides optimal productivity with fast scans and top resource efficiency

* Advanced Code Sequence Identity technology – results in better detection of deeply imbedded and emerging malware
* Enhanced Detection Database – protects Ad-Aware 2007 users from more malware, with incremental and automatic updates resulting in fast download times
* New graphical user interface (GUI) - easy to navigate for beginners while maintaining advanced options for experienced users and businesses
* Automatic scans and Web Updates – the all-new scheduler allows you to set a personalized schedule for automatic scans and definition file updates
* Ad-Watch TrackSweep – this new feature erases tracks left while surfing the Internet on IE, Firefox and Opera, in one easy click of a button
* Ad-Watch Connect – provides users with advanced protection as an additional shield against hijackers and identify theft
* Hosts File Editor – allows users to add, delete or make changes to the Hosts File to create Web navigational shortcuts and block specific sites
* Multiple Browser Support – Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera
* System Restore Point – provides a system restore point, particularly valuable for computer users who may have deleted a file in error during cleanup of their system

Great. I'll give this a shot when I get home
#1.1 vetSlimy on 06 Mar 2007 - 22:25
Well I can tell you guys that scanning is extremely slow, and particularly resource intensive. I'll accept the Beta excuse, for now.
#1.2 vetSlimy on 06 Mar 2007 - 22:27
Guess what? It failed to uninstall. What a POS.

Is Spyware Doctor free?
#3.3 MrCobra on 07 Mar 2007 - 06:45
Nope. It's $30 a year.
#4 Aq3e on 06 Mar 2007 - 14:02
Looks like something made by Fisher-Price
#5 verizon on 06 Mar 2007 - 14:43
They badly need automatic-updates hourly or daily, and of course it must be a service which runs in the background providing real-time protection.. then I'd switch

No thanks...

I prefer my anti-malware software makers to have never colluded with malware producers.
#6.1 MrCobra on 06 Mar 2007 - 15:07
Same for me.

Lavasoft apparently struck a deal with Claria to not detect their GAIN adware anymore, or something of the like. Don't remember if it was actually Claria, but it was some adware company.

Forget Ad-Aware, just use NOD32 and you'll be set.

5 day trial?

Must be near release.

I prefer spybot search and destroy myself.

the new GUI is just horrible
#9.1 MrCobra on 06 Mar 2007 - 18:23
I tried the damned thing to be fair. It sucks ass. Nasty looking and slow as hell.

I just leave the default windows defender on my vista setup and i have never had an issue.
#10.1 XeonBuilder on 06 Mar 2007 - 23:30
WD would be pretty good if it actually found anything. I installed Spyware Doctor on my vista system and it cleaned everything from my system. This was after I ran Ad-aware beta on the same system.

Shareware? :/

No problems here but Ad-aware ''2007 version'' is too old for this times. Programs like SUPERantispyware, Webroot Spy Sweeper and even the almighty Windows Defender are better, with more options/features and better detection. Few things about Ad-aware 2007:

Pros:
- fast scan
- easy to use

Cons:
- GUI is ugly as hell, Windows Defender GUI is much, much better and good looking than Lavasoft new program, even some rogue antispyware programs looks better.
- Memory hog
- Bad detecton rates but this is a beta so...
- Nothing new even under the sun even is branded ''2007''
#13 Daedalus on 07 Mar 2007 - 00:51
Yuk, the GUI is awful. Based on the comments here, I'll pass...

There is more worse part than its features. I am their registered beta tester...got beta invite and their beta site is down....couldn't login to their beta site for past 24 hours! Too bad they didn't respect their beta testers also.
#14.1 Emile on 07 Mar 2007 - 04:54

Server downtime translates to a lack of respect?

Boy, Neowin must hate your ass!

Think I'll pass this one.

The GUI isn't that great and I found the scanning engine to be slow.
