Buy music, movies, TV shows, and audiobooks, or download free podcasts from the iTunes Store 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Organize and play everything on your Mac or PC. Then sync it to your iPod and bring it along. Anywhere.

Changes:
  • With iTunes 7 and the iTunes Store, preview and purchase high-quality hit movies plus new and classic games designed exclusively for the Fifth Generation iPod. Flip through your collection by album cover with Cover Flow, protect your iTunes library by backing up to CDs or DVDs, update Apple software more easily with Apple Software Update for Windows, and much more.
  • Using iTunes 7.1, you can now enjoy your favorite iTunes movies, TV shows, music, and more from the comfort of your living room with Apple TV. iTunes 7.1 also supports a new full screen Cover Flow and improved sorting options to let you decide how iTunes should sort your favorite artists, albums, and songs.
  • iTunes 7.1 addresses a number of compatibility issues with Windows Vista.
  • iTunes 7.1.1 addresses a stability issue and minor compatibility problems in iTunes 7.1.

I would love it if Apple could release patches which will upgrade the previous version to the latest version. It's somewhat tedious having to re-download the entire 40 MB package every time they make a minor update.

I was just thinking the same!

And that's why I no longer use Nero Burning ROM...exactly the same problem, 100 MB to download the 'Full' setup instead of an update patch. Bluddey annoying I must say!

Eh? The Nero update (really just the full version as is on disc) is 190MBs, downloading right now.

Doesn't bother me, it's only a ten second download.

Nero has an update utility. Open Nero Start Start Smart, go to the last tab click Product Setup. It only downloads what you need.

Maybe they figure that their user base isn't bright enough to use a patch? After all, they don't even allow them to upgrade their Macs on their own. Doing so violates the warranty.

Before anyone asks, yes, I have an iPod 60g video that I had won in a contest last Summer and I'm using it with a PC.

well technically on dell, gateway etc..."normal" pc's your warranty is void if you upgrade and open the case without their permission as well, just alot of people either don't know or most companies don't bother to enforce.

That's not true and hasn't been for years.

All Dell requires is that you purchase the parts from their online store. If you do that then you are still covered under warranty.

Hell Dell even lets you overclock their PC's these days if you have one of the higher end XPS models, all without voiding the warranty as well.

It says that the new version "addresses a number of compatibility issues with Windows Vista." However, the download page still just reads that the windows version is for "2000 or XP."

Hmmmmmmmmmm.................

I downloaded it earlier today and I have iTunes 7.1.1.5?

I really wish they'd speed up things with the PC version, it's just down right slow (and it's NOT my PC).

"addresses a number of compatibility issues with Windows Vista." but WHAT specifically...
I would venture that the majority of iPod owners run Windows based systems...
And the newer generations of iPods require an installation of iTunes just to activate the iPod...
Not that I actually do this a lot but I do have an 80g Video iPod with a couple of downloaded/"purchases"... that just lockup and are unable to run under Vista...
in iTunes...
It is no wonder that many countries are going after Apple for selling "properties" that are so proprietary that they can only run with their software that at this point can't even run those.
One would think with all the delays that Vista had that there would have been many opportunities to address a heck of a lot more of these issues.

My QuickTime trailers still don't play with Quicktime 7.1.5 that comes included. Buffer overrun all the time for QuickTime.
