Avoid at all costs.

This has been out for almost 3 months.

The 2007.2 version was published for the general availability of Vista, and the file's digital signature date is Jan 14th.

Avoid.

Guaranteed at least 90% of the people here saying "AVOID" haven't even used 2007.

Agreed. I used to be one of the "avoiders" myself until I tried it a month ago upon recommendations I read on a security forum. It now protects my Vista computer. It is definitely not the same "bloated" Norton of old.

Yep, true. Except for low spec systems.

I would dare not taint my hardware to this putrid trash even with a quadcore intel qx6700 even ddr3 ram. It will still bog down as much as before. I would imagine seeing my customers removing the copy of avast or eset nod32 only to find it is replaced by this mofo sh*t. Evey1 i know uses this supposedly saying "ohh, at&t needs it for their parental controls or if i dont have it my (sh**ty) dell will no longer work and u are just a retarded 14 year old kid with no experience whatsoever. Bottom line, avoid this or you will be commiting a "virtual sin" to your forked out computer. or at least sell this dell for a mac

There is a BIG difference in what came with my Dell Dim. 8300 (NIS '04) and what I have now. You can hardly call 7Mb ram usage a hog. It is apparent you haven't even tried '07 which was completey written from scratch. I once vowed that Norton would never be installed on my computer again (after my experience with '04) but I was so impressed (and surprised) with '07 I bought a subscription after 3 days into my 15 day trial.

Frankly I do not care what you use but you can remove the bloatware label off of Norton. This was true in the past but not the present. And check out AV Comparitives sometime.

You don't need to. I tried NAV2003-2007 and NIS2005, 2006. They are all garbage. What's another rotting corpse on strings to add to the freak show?

I vowed I would troll Norton products forever. Symantec are a joke.

Even Peter Norton I suspect is too shameful nowadays to appear on the packaging of the products that bear his name. As a long time user of the famous Norton Commander and Norton Utilities for MS-DOS, it is pretty sickening to see these fine legacy trampled by Symantec and its goons.

Ok here we go again. All I have to say is this. If you are that dumb and that naive to spend 70 on a program that sure as hell does not guarantee you will not get a virus go right ahead. AVG free Avast and Antivir are all free anti viruse program which can keep up with the big dogs. I myself use AVG Free along with the very good anti spyware AVG Anti Spyware. I also use a free fire wall call Comodo which has been proven to be better then Norton.

Consider this: Just prior to Vista's launch, Symantec accused MSFT of opening up Vista's kernel to virus attack, when other AV companies says otherwise. Just showed how much they know about "software programming". And now, they releases their own AV or IS software for Vista. I don't think it take a genius to connect the dot and ask the question - would you trust Symantec's programming skills come up with a good products for your AV or IS protection?

I think that was just their marketing department spreading FUD. What would you do if you made money off of everyone using Windows XP because of the amount of FUD it created for itself (with good reason but still).

Although I agree it sucks my parents pc has this and they will soon be upgrading to Vista. Their Norton package says free upgrade to a Vista compatible product. Does that mean they can use Norton 360 or are they stuck with the Vista version of this?

Thanks for the news, works great.

Amazing how this thread has been hijacked by 'trolls'.

You don't want it then move along.
#11.1 buletov on 10 Apr 2007 - 15:39
Why don't you go and take a look at a dictionary for a meaning of the word 'comment'. People who dealt with Symantec's bloatware on a several occasions know what are they talking about. 'Norton' brand got it's name and recognition back in the 90's. However, it has lost it in the 2002. Anyone who is still relaying on this name when choosing important products such as malware protection, should seriously reconsider their options.
#12 eilegz on 10 Apr 2007 - 14:41
no thanks, after version 2004, i said avoid norton at all cost even running without antivirus, the new 360 and this are the same thing, somehow this its rather confusing product.

What symantec should do its use their corporate version for home users that would be better
