Free Download Manager (FDM) is a full-featured download accelerator and manager. Using this software product you can easily download a list of files and whole web sites from any remote server via HTTP, HTTPS and FTP. With FDM the downloading process will be as easy as never before. FDM is a light-weight, powerful and easy-to-use application. Also this software product is well-known for its intuitive and user-friendly interface. FDM can function as a site manager, accelerator, site explorer and scheduler. FDM can resume broken downloads. So you needn't start the downloading process from the very beginning after casual interruption. You can resume unfinished download from the moment when it was interrupted. Also this program warns you if resuming isn't supported by the servers. It allows you to make a decision about the downloading. So with FDM you save your time and money. FDM allows adjusting traffic usage. So it provides you with an opportunity to browse web pages much faster if you use a low connection speed.

Only FlashGet isn't even close to as good as this is. It doesn't even rank compared with FDM.

As for FDM being a copycat, FlashGet is also a "copycat" of countless others from the past, that have since been washed away by newer DMs.

FlashGet copycat

i believe FDM came out before flashget.

and if even if flashget was around in the begining when FDM came out, FDM was the absolute best out there. that's why i started using it in the first place. so flashget had nothing for FDM to copy from

after all these years i still like this one the best

I was using Flashget before this FDM. When I dload from RS premium using FG my bandwidth meter showed more bandwidth than I used. So switched to FDM & its working fine & no RS glitches

FDM is about all you need now. It grabs flash video and does BT and metalink too.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it appears to be skinnable, but nobody seems to be making skins for it Other than that, this is absolutely fantastic!

Well, I have to agree!

I'm a long time user of flashget (i have bought it around 2002 when it wasn't freeware). Yesterday, out of curiosity I tried Free Download Manager. Well it's awesome program! It has more functionality than Flashget and it is more polished.

The only thing I find better at Flashget is the "Dowload all" functionality at a web page. With flashget is easier to select elements you want to download from a given page.
