uTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients.

Features:

* Multiple simultaneous downloads
* Configurable bandwidth scheduler
* Global and per-torrent speed limiting
* Quick-resumes interrupted transfers
* RSS Downloader
* Trackerless support (Mainline DHT)
Changelog:

- Feature: Client ID parsing for Blizzard Downloader
- Feature: Now remembers which log settings you had on each run when changed from the logger context menu
- Change: display text strings instead of numbers for piece priority

- Change: reply with "invalid request" if the webui is queried on the wrong port
- Change: RSS filter by episode can specify ending season in addition to episode
- Change: bt.graceful_shutdown waits for all cleanup before exiting
- Fix: Font size of progress bars in the main listview is the same as the rest of the listview
- Fix: fix piece priority display bug incorrect index
- Fix: Copy Selected Hosts now copies multiple hosts with a carriage return and a newline rather then just a newline
- Fix: Crash when clicking in window with torrent and then moving mousewheel outside application
- Fix: Log when the UPNP fails on the timeout (20 minutes), and on each timeout retry 3 times as it does at application launch

This is BETA software!, please use caution when installing it on your system

Is it just me or is uTorrent slowly taking up more and more memory with each beta build. come two years time it'll probably be as bad as Azureus.

That's paranoia talking. Even if uTorrent took up 100MB of memory, I think you'd be crazy to want to switch to a different client. Plus, if you are complaining to such a little change, I think it's time to spend the $70 to get a 1GB stick of RAM. Whining to developers never helps.

It's not paranoia. 1.7 builds are full of memory leaks unfortunately. I hope thiese problems will be resolved till final build. Ludde's absence is already affecting uTorrent development in a bad way. I'm sticking with 1.61 till code for 1.7 gets as efficient as it was with previous 1.x versions.

out with the bloody v1.7 final already!!
#5.1 Tantawi on 23 May 2007 - 11:32
Will you feel happy then? stick to 1.6.1 if you want, beta ensures a quality final release.
#6 soldier1st on 23 May 2007 - 03:06
beta builds are not final versions so they may take more memory but the final version will tapper off,once utorrent takes 100MB of memory if at all it will have way more features then compared to now plus it meant to be lean not overbig like azureus is.if memory usage is too high for you then you need to upgrade to 1GB or 2GB from that 64 or 128 or 256 that you may have.

Hmm this is the first beta build that caused a Proactive Defense message to pop up with Kaspersky Antivirus... anyone know why?

That's a false positive.

Anyone else get lagged out when using this prog? Whenever I run uTorrent my whole network lags. Anyone else have this prob or know why it might be happening??

your half-open is too high, you have to many connections/torrent allowed, or your connect_rate is very high.

What would you recommend as a good setting?
#8.3 Eis on 23 May 2007 - 19:18
Every modem/router is different. You're going to have to try to keep lowering the connections to keep from choking it. You should be able to tell when the settings are about right.

UPnP seems to be broken in this version! (ERROR 3) have reverted back to previous version and it's fine.
#10 Computer Guru on 23 May 2007 - 10:52
UPnP works fine here.

Can people PLEASE stop begging for the final version? This is a real beta with real bugs and real issues. That's how software development goes ):

Can anyone tell me what "Feature: Client ID parsing for Blizzard Downloader" means?
#11.1 Tantawi on 23 May 2007 - 13:20
It means that in the Peer tab, you can know what peers are using this "Blizzard Downloader" software, like now you can know who use uTorrent or Bitloard and what version etc.

Wait, but how to you get anything other than the blizzard downloader on a torrent served by blizzard?

good software.....if the developers can see this... PLEASE TRY AND IMPLEMENT A IP FILTERING PLUG IN..LIKE IN AZUREUS TO CUT DOWN ON WASTED RESOURCES AND NOT TO CONNECT TO PEERS FROM ANTI PIRACY FIRMS

it would make a remarkable change!
as for the ther features..they are great! keep the good work going..Utorrent rulez!
#12.1 Yogurth on 23 May 2007 - 15:57
ipfiltering already exists in utorrent. Just put ipfilter.dat in utorrent directory and filtering will be enabled. check logger tab to see if it has loaded successfully.
