- There is nothing in this program that makes it worth $39.95. There are several free anti spyware programs that do all of this and more.

Pssst.. This is a shareware app that cripples itself after 30 days.Quote -At the end of the trial, these extensions will be deactivated and the program will turn into a feature-limited freeware version.
Additional features of the Plus-Version
- NEW Scheduled scans
- Real-time monitoring of the entire system
- Memory Scan detects active threats
- Self-protection at kernel layer guarantees gapless monitoring
- Automatic online-update
As a freeware app it can't even do memory scans. -

pssst... no it's not. The program cost $39.95. Does that sound like "free" to you? The program is downloaded on a 30 day trial basis then you either pay or you don't benefit from real-time protection which is what counts the most, the ability to block malware before it infects your computer. Even though you can use the manual scanner after the trial period, most anti-spyware programs perform terribly at removing all traces and infections on an already infested computer.
Moral of the story? Next time, rather than try and be sarcastic or make a cute reply, do a little research and educate yourself.

internetworld..........you need to get a grip. spyware can be removed. a virus destroys your pc. you do not need a realtime spyware scanner. I fix pc's on the side as a hoobie and I have never not been able to remove spyware. Most viruses that you cannot get rid of the only option is reformat. -

Wow, you must be related to Bush or something.
And you said, "I fix pc's on the side as a hoobie"!
I highly suggest you get a new "hobbie" (And a dictionary). Did it ever occur to you that the average person does not even have anti-spyware protection much less the diligence to scan for it on a weekly basis? Did it also occur to you that by the time spyware, keyloggers, rootkits and trojans are detected on an infected system the damage is already done? What a freak'n idiot. What good is removing spyware if my information has already been compromised ? How intelligent is that Vettetech? REAL-TIME protection is the first line of defense, not becoming infected then trying to remove it. You really are a class act Vettetech.
Oh and by the way in case you thought you thoroughly fixed an infested PC during one of your "hobbie" moments, here is something to chew on for a moment. This was the results of testing done by AV-Test.org when comparing the leading and top anti-spyware programs on the market. This is just a quote from a test done late last year:
"Detecting malware is one thing; cleaning it thoroughly from your system is another. We tested these products' abilities to remove files and Registry changes caused by ten pieces of adware and ten pieces of spyware.
Disinfecting the spyware proved difficult: To elude security software, spyware writers continually change the way their malware behaves. In our spyware disinfection tests, Spy Sweeper and Spyware Doctor ranked first, disinfecting 65 percent of the files. Spybot came in last, disinfecting merely 20 percent of the files. (Our chart combines adware and spyware disinfection results.)" http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,126818-page,1/article.html
Heeelllloooo Vettetech...Did you catch that? If only 65% of malware was detected, what in the hades happened to the other 35%? The moral of this story? You don't make idiot statements that only viruses damage your computer and you can easily detect and remove spyware and you don't need real-time protection from spyware. It scares me to think of what other "hobbie" you have.

- wait, so why does this only do real-time scanning for a limited time?
Does Avast free version do real-time scanning forever, or is that limited as well?

- Yes, after 30 days the program becomes an on access only/scan at a time type of shareware/crippleware depending on how you want to look at it.
While this may detract some, it still offers the scan when you want, and other features, just not real time monitoring, or a memory scan.

- why does this have the word free in it... its free to use, but only for 30 days, which makes it shareware or am i wrong? i do like AVG antivirus and it is my virus scanner in XP but i do not use the spyware scanner... im fine with spybot and adware thank you.

- Dude I have been using it for a year now. IT IS FREE. After 30 days the real time proetction expires but who needs real time spyware proection if your a smart surfer. Spy Bot and Ad Aware use to be able to cut it. But no longer. AVG anti spyware which used to be ewido spyware,Spyware Terminator and Super Anti Spyware are now on the top.
