Nvidia has finally released another set of official beta drivers for Windows XP, Windows XP MCE and Windows Server 2003. They are for Geforce 6, 7 and 8 and are available in both 32bit and 64bit flavours. This is not a WHQL release, so Windows will prompt you about these drivers not being digitally signed. International downloads are available.

Release Highlights
  • Beta driver release.
  • Improved compatibility for Lost Planet.
  • Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0c and OpenGL® 2.1 support.
  • Numerous game and application compatibility fixes.
This is BETA software!, please use caution when installing it on your system

For God's sake, just call it v162.15 and be done with it. A release is a release. Everyone knows that it will be superseded by a new version at some stage.

Didn't he do just that? It sure looks like 162.15 in the subject of the news post.

I think he was refurning to the fact that they have called it a BETA.

But it IS a Beta isn't it?

ffs, yes it is, but the next release will probably be 162.16 not 162.15 final. So his point was, why bother calling it a beta.

Get it?

I got these last night - BSOD when opening nvidia settings or IE7 - I'm using Windows XP x64 edition...
First "bad" nVidia driver I've used - beta or not...

I guess that's why they are BETA.

Hello Captain Obvious. People have already pointed this out. No need to join the bandwagon

Driver support is what I hate about nVidia, ATI release month update but nVidia the last final non-beta driver was in May

The whole reason nVidia doesn't do regular FINAL releases is because they can't get their driver to pass Microsoft's WHQL. ATI does it month, after month..... their drivers are solid, and that proves it.

That was in responce to 4.1. Sorry.

And don't get me wrong, I still love my GeForce Go 7900, and the drivers are a lot better than anything they had before (remember all that GeForceFX driver hacking/cheating? hhaha.)

I'm not claiming that the Nvidia drivers are better. I said that in a general sense, but forgot to use a question mark, and not a period.

I overall think the ATi driver set is better, I can speak from experiance. I've owned an ATi 8500, 9200, 9800pro, 9800XT, X850XTPE, and a X1900XT. I've only now started using Nvidia because the 8800 series dominates the market, I would've went with the 2900XT, but it's a flop.

Any reason why they jump from version 94.24 to 161 Beta?
