Well, I'm running Vista so I don't know if that has anything to do with a memory leak or what but I've got 5 tabs and it's at 59,000k usage and rising!!

<edit>Make that 75,000k now</edit>

P.P.S. Did the same thing with IE and it's about the same so...

I have been using Maxthon for quite a while now, and while I am pleased with it's progress, I still think that this new version - including this final release - could use some work.

Anyhow, I just did a quick memory usage test for anyone interested. I just used two different machines to try this out, as-is, with no special setup(i.s.: fresh install, no plugins, etc) or anything else. Keep in mind that these two machines have different types of hardware, but both have the same builds of version 1 & 2, both have similar plugins installed, and 14 tabs are open on the same sites:

PC#1
XP Pro, 2GB RAM
Maxthon 1.6.1 (build 22) - 38,236k (jumps a little between 38,236k-39,056k)
Maxthon 2.02.2961 - 183,832k

PC#2
XP Pro, 2GB RAM
Maxthon 1.6.1 (build 22) - 113,073k
Maxthon 2.02.2961 - 115,424k

The numbers on PC#1 are much different than I thought they would be, whereas PC#2 seems to be a bit more consistant. I am not sure why they are so different, but it could maybe be due to the plugins, hardware difference, etc. between the two mahcines. Regardless, I will still be using version 1 for a while.

how do I get favourites to open in the current tab? This is really annoying me - in the Tabs Bar setup i do not have Favorites links ticked under "Open new tab from" but it still opens favourites in a new tab
#8 Zmark on 23 Jul 2007 - 23:23
Open favourites from menu bar.

^Yeah I've realised that, but I like to use the sidebar. Is this a bug or am I stuck with this?
#9.1 linx05 on 24 Jul 2007 - 07:53
It seems to be a bug. Report it on the forums.

I too can not figure how to get new tabs to open in the background... sigh...

I have to dig up my Maxthon forum signon information.
#10.1 linx05 on 25 Jul 2007 - 06:59
Click 'Force open links in background' in the status bar. Lower right.
#11 Zmark on 25 Jul 2007 - 02:11
I don't think it's a bug, but I could be wrong........I believe it's programmed this way ----- why? ---- I have no clue, but I'm not fond of it.
