6? I thought we were on version 7?

They are, but I think even Ahead has realized that Nero 7 is a horrible, bloated product.

There are customers who bought 6 and doesn't want to move to 7.
#4 LeeŽ on 28 Jul 2007 - 22:19
Just install Micro 7, it's much better.

Nero has become so bloated that I don't even have it installed anymore. I just use ImgBurn for all my burning needs.
#5.1 ThaCrip on 28 Jul 2007 - 23:42
ImgBurn is nice but it dont appear to do standard data/audio discs otherwise i would use ImgBurn as i think it's a great app for burning image files like .iso etc etc.

but i use nero 6 for general data/audio burning.

Nero StartSmart 2
Nero Express 6
Nero BackItUp
Nero SoundTrax
Nero Image Drive
Nero Burning ROM 6
Nero Cover Designer
Nero Wave Editor
Nero Toolkit
Ask Toolbar
The Weather Channel Desktop

You can keep your junk ware Ahead, how's about worrying about writing programs instead of cashing up.

The previous release before this was still Nero-6.6.1.15, all we have here is a C release.

Here is 6.6.1.15a:
ftp://ftp5.de.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.1.15a.exe

It still have the ask nonsence in it, chances are the only difference is they added the US weather channel thing. Anyone found a clean version of 6.6.1.15?

To un-crap this:

1: Open the installer with WinRAR.
2: Delete "NeroBar.exe", "NeroBar.txt", "SetupValidator.exe", "Toolbar.exe" and "Weather Channerl Installer.exe" from the archive.
3: Click "Info" in WinRAR, then go to SFX->Advanced Options, and change the "Run after extraction" box to say "Setupx.exe /SFX"
4: Remove the "_wch" from the file name if you want to for aesthetic reasons.

Or if you don't care about keeping the installer, just extract it to a folder and run SetupX to install.

EDIT: Well damn... That worked with the last one. A-head modified something to call the Weather Channel crap anyway...

Just a note, that if you use this version, DVD-Shrink doesn't work.

You need to roll back to 6.6.0.18 for it to work again.
#8 B0GiE on 29 Jul 2007 - 09:47
I still use 6.6.0.18, never had any problems with it and there is no crapware on it. Whats so good about 6.6.1.15a?
#9 cork1958 on 29 Jul 2007 - 12:16
That's the version number I never upgraded passed, without the "a" anyway, or maybe it's 6.6.0.16?

Anyway, wil NEVER upgrade this bloatware program any higher, for sure!!

Still have a version 5 on one of my OLD machines too!

I have nero 7? *confused*
#11 +xan K on 29 Jul 2007 - 13:37
nero 7 is total bloatware! it's not the nice little app to satisfy our burning needs that it used to be.
#12 mayamaniac on 29 Jul 2007 - 22:52
You know you can do a custom install instead of typical, uncheck all the "bloat" you don't want, and it only installs Nero and nothing else.

Hmm, that's why it's removed from their page and the previous 6.6.1.15a is again up.
#14 mlauzon76 on 30 Jul 2007 - 12:50
Why does everyone complain about 7, when there was 6 Ultra that was almost 700MB...7 Ultra is under 300MB?!

#15 EaglePC on 31 Jul 2007 - 02:16
