ESET Smart Security is a fully integrated security solution and includes antivirus, anti-spyware, a personal firewall and antispam. While some competitive solutions purport to have similar functionality, ESET has developed a unique approach that provides true and full integration of point security solutions. The key advantage of this approach is that individual protection modules are able to communicate together seamlessly, to create unparalleled synergy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of protection. Moreover, the integrated architecture guarantees optimal utilization of system resources, so ESET Smart Security continues ESET’s well know reputation for providing rock solid security in a small footprint that will not slow down an individual’s computer.

What’s new

ESET Smart Security is a milestone in the field of computer protection against infiltrations and attacks. The program offers more than just a sum of its parts – it is synergy that matters most. If all components are used simultaneously, the effectiveness of the whole program is multiplied. ESET Smart Security unifies all its functions to create a complex security solution.

ESET Smart Security is based on three basic pillars:

ESET NOD32 Antivirus + Antispyware

This component is in fact an improved version of the award-winning scanning engine of NOD32 Antivirus v2.7.

ESET Personal Firewall

Firewall monitors all traffic between a protected computer and other computers in the local network and in the Internet.

ESET Anti Spam

ESET Anti Spam serves to filter unsolicited email, which makes your work with email more effective.

@Eis

There's no big difference between beta 1 GUI and beta 2.

The changes doesn't seem too large, I thought each beta had a lot planned?

Looks very nice (both visually and feature-wise). I've been using NOD32 for a while and been very happy with it. Definitely gonna give this one a try. Anyone installed it on 32-bit Vista yet? Any major problems?

Is it safe or even logical to have ESET's Antispyware and Vista's Defender running side by side? I tried disabling this suite's antispyware module but it kept re-enabling it after a reboot.

A lot of problems on Vista 32 for me. On one machine it BSOD-ed during install and wasn't able to re/uninstall (had to manually delete files and used CCleaner to remove registry entries, then installed clean and uninstalled it).

On my other one it made my logon time about 5 times longer and 1 out of 3 times it would simply stay at the "Welcome" screen forever until I shut it down. Looks nice but they need to work out their bugs first. When it did let me login, my wireless connection would fail almost immediately trying to connect to anything. I don't know what it is with Eset/NOD32 but I've always had Internet/Networking problems ever since I switched to Vista... going back to avast! - has been working the best for me so far. Shame I got 2 year, 2 PC license and not using it (even the stable NOD32 is giving me enough problems to not use it).
