µTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients. Most of the features present in other BitTorrent clients are present in µTorrent, including bandwidth prioritization, scheduling, RSS auto-downloading and Mainline DHT (compatible with BitComet). Additionally, µTorrent supports the Protocol Encryption joint specification (compatible with Azureus 2.4.0.0 and above, BitComet 0.63 and above) and peer exchange. µTorrent was written with efficiency in mind. Unlike many torrent clients, it does not hog valuable system resources - typically using less than 6MB of memory, allowing you to use the computer as if it weren't there at all. Additionally, the program itself is contained within a single executable less than 220 KB in size.

Features:

* Multiple simultaneous downloads
* Configurable bandwidth scheduler
* Global and per-torrent speed limiting
* Quick-resumes interrupted transfers
* RSS Downloader
* Trackerless support (Mainline DHT)

What's new:

- Fix: rare crash bug with malformed UPnP response
- Fix: downloads stalled in rare cases

Im quite confused. They release a new BitTorrent Beta which is basically uTorrent. Now uTorrent are releasing Beta's also? How come they haven't just ceased uTorrent and used BitTorrent as the main application?

I don't use utorrent anymore because I'm a paranoid freak that thinks that the government will spy on my, although I don't download pirated stuff maybe except for hentai which I don't know the actual legal status of it.

I like Azureus, it lags like hell sometimes but it's the most featured client. (Check Comparison of Bittorrent Clients in wikipedia).

Can I offer you a tin-foil hat to go with that paranoia?
Sorry, but uTorrent is faster, lighter, and updates more frequently. Oh, and feature-wise, I'd say it beats Azureus (that Wikipedia article is outdated).

Faster? Debatable. Some say yes, some no.
Lighter? Most definetly.
More updates? Azureus releases stable snapshots almost daily.
More features? You're joking right?

Us Torrent users really need to assist in the creation of BitTorrent V2 (just made that up) that would be 100% encrypted so ISP's could not throttle the communications or track what we are downloading.

thanks again for the update... the best torrent client out there if you ask me.

i dont remember hearing that utorrent and bittorrent merged. i think bittorrents owner just purchased the design off of utorrent, but not the protocol. both dont share the same protocol, and utorrent isn't going anywhere from what i remember.

Not entirelly, some clients have modified protocols... so I've heard. I think it was around somewhere in wikipedia. I guess they'll be reverse compatible with the bittorrent protocol.
