Also, it's 908KB, not 908 kilobits.
A software firewall in the end, if you have "newbs" on your PC can save you from alot of headaches.
LnS is not only a great product but unlike much of the competition you do not have to keep paying!
They are useful for blocking OUTGOING traffic. There have been several instances where I was saved from disaster by my firewall blocking malware attempting to make outgoing connections to download it's payload. As a result, I don't need to run an AV in the background, I just run a firewall. It is less resource intensive and less problematic.
Check out some of the security forums around etc, Look n Stop is always highly recommended, and always passes those security test things at either #1 or #2 (behind Outpost's older version I think, I THINK)

Your firewall blocking malware is good, but HARDLY a reason to ditch an antivirus scanner, and if it has saved you "SEVERAL" times, you obviously browse some rather questionable sites!
pro's:
* small and lightweight
* very detailed rule settings
* fairly simple interface
con's:
* This firewall is for "power users" you need good amount of networking knowledge to take full advantage of this firewall.
As for the people that think client side firewalls are useless when behind a router are probably the soul cause of the large amount of spam bots, viruses, spyware and other crap. Most home routers DO NOT block outgoing connections! If you download a trojan it can still connect to the outside. Not to mention more and more viruses and such make use UPnP to simply forward themselves on your router.
So I highly recommend you get at least some sort of firewall (no.. not windows firewall), you run a up to date anti virus scanner and regularly run a tool to scan for viruses.
I do recommend NOD32 and it is very good on resrouces.

That is a really stupid statement... what do you think a router runs on? sure it's a separate hardware box but it still runs on software and as said before most router DO NOT block outgoing connections.
Also there's not a single anti virus that gets all the viruses and with new once being developed every day you could have one on your system with a fully updated NOD 32 and not know you might be function as a DDoS / spam bot in a large network with more pc owners that think they are safe behind their little router and anti virus.
Sygate is a straight forward, no nonsense firewall. It's not developed anymore which is a real shame.
I dont need all the bells and whistles and frankly the distractions that some of these firewalls have... Sygate asks you to allow or block an outgoing (or incoming) connection and that's that. end of story.
I installed Comodo (again--because I forgot I had tried it) after reading these comments and even though I tell it to allow Trillian and remember the setting, it prompts me 20 times for incoming/outgoing connections. Ditto on any other program.
Outpost had some nice features, but it was more flash than firewall.. it worked but who knows what it was doing.
I cant seem to move away from Sygate...
