iTunes is a piece of software that lets you add to, organize and play your digital media collection on your computer, as well as sync it to a portable device. It's a jukebox player along the lines of MusicMatch and Windows Media Player, and you can use it on a Mac or Windows machine. The most significant difference between iTunes and some other media players is the built-in iTunes Music Store (where you can get podcasts, music videos, movies, audiobooks and TV shows, too) and its multi-level integration with Apple's iPod portable media player. With iTunes 7.4, sync your favorite music and more with the new iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod touch, plus create custom ringtones exclusively for iPhone with many of your favorite songs purchased from the iTunes Store. You can now also play purchased videos with closed captioning (when available), easily rate your favorite albums from one to five stars, and watch videos at a larger size inside the iTunes window.

What's New:

iTunes 7.4.2 addresses an issue with creating ringtones using iTunes Plus song purchases and includes bug fixes to improve stability and performance.

Wish they would fix it so it would integrate better with Vista.

hate to say it for I totally agree with you, but I think it's as integrated as it's going to get.

QFT. Unfortunatley

Welcome to the "best windows app ever"

What is missing? As far as I can tell, its good as its going to get in terms of integration with the OS. It shows up in Default Programs...

Quicktime is what needs to be fixed. The latest version does not even allow you to specify the mime types on Vista.

I would have thought that with the Apple Software Update utility that you wouldn't have such large package dowloads every time there was an update. It would be nice for a smaller patch....

Nope... it doesn't allow for modular updates, unless that's how Apple have released it. It's just like Windows Update... but for Apple products.

I don't even bother anymore.. unless there is some huge feature added. All I do in iTunes is add music (that I download from a different source) to my library, then sent it to my iPod. I don't even use it to play music.

Same as well... Winamp can also add things to iPods I think, (not Explorer though LOL) but I don't have an iPod so I wouldn't know. I just use iTunes to play music though it's quite heavy on system resources. The iTunes store isn't available in my country which is very annoying. What does iTunes Plus have that the free version doesn't?

why do people even bother with this crap? ... cant u just use windows explorer or something to add files to the ipod?

for burning audio cd's just use Burrrn as it loads up super fast and gets straight to the point (16x is generall recommended burning speed for audio)

I think Microsoft is up to their bull **** again.. They don't lilke Apple's competition, so obviousely we have a problem with their main competitor to the Zune.

I wish Apple would set aside their ego for their computers and License Mac OS to PC Manufacturers; if this Doesn't make Microsoft behave like a gentleman in the technology industry; not even a dent of $650 Million from The EU...
