Free Download Manager (FDM) is a full-featured download accelerator and manager. Using this software product you can easily download a list of files and whole web sites from any remote server via HTTP, HTTPS and FTP. With FDM the downloading process will be as easy as never before. FDM is a light-weight, powerful and easy-to-use application. Also this software product is well-known for its intuitive and user-friendly interface. FDM can function as a site manager, accelerator, site explorer and scheduler. FDM can resume broken downloads. So you needn't start the downloading process from the very beginning after casual interruption. You can resume unfinished download from the moment when it was interrupted. Also this program warns you if resuming isn't supported by the servers. It allows you to make a decision about the downloading. So with FDM you save your time and money. FDM allows adjusting traffic usage. So it provides you with an opportunity to browse web pages much faster if you use a low connection speed.

Notes:
FDM Lite version requires less size and lacks some functions (BitTorrent support, video conversion and upload manager) that can be downloaded and installed as plugins later.

* FDM is now released under GNU GPL! *

Changes in version 2.5 build 711:
- Sometimes name of file was not detected correctly (HTTP)
- Bug when server returns incorrect response with resume data
- Sometimes sort of downloads list did not work

------

What I like about FDM:
+ Community option to get opinions/alerts and also rate/review downloads
+ Good mirror options
+ Option to create portable version
+ Integrates well with all browsers

What I dislike about FDM:
- Site Manager doesn't include referer
- Poor Scheduler
- No option to save download settings as default
- No option to exclude certain servers

FDM's most irritating feature for me is the inability to save the download settings as default. Basically, I want FDM to automatically schedule all downloads instead of asking me each time. The ability to exclude downloading from certain servers make FDM a big no-no for me. (Both FlashGet and Getright can do this btw.)

You can save settings as default. Click the save when you changed it.

What I like:
+ open source

What I dislike:
- looks ugly
- media preview (crashes FDM if large incomplete file accidently previewed)
- community option to some extent (cant disable)
