- Great news, but I hope existing v2 users get a free upgrade and not a discount upgrade cost

Spend hundreds of £€$ on a Mac to "be protected from 100% of all viruses", or simply install [insert name of Linux distro here] for free? <sarcasm>Hmmm....that's a tough choice!</sarcasm>
Anyway, back on topic: The beta/RC versions of ESET Smart Security have been running smoothly for me - very light on resources! I'll probably renew my license next year. -

LOL, neowin's especially friendly today...
hey Miran, I like your attitude! You're right, Macs are cool, and indeed quite enjoyable. But let's not forget, is it Apples award of merit that no viruses get written for OS X? The UNIX below the eye-candy (which is Apple's work! ...the eye-candy I mean) is a strong OS, but it's not all Apple's work. So indeed, certain ppl should eventually shut up and die. Hey internetworld, check this out: One thing PC users can which Mac-Boys can't
To the release: I enjoy 2.7 a lot on Vista, it's so friendly to my resources unlike most of its competitors. Definitely gonna check 3.0 out since I'm usually an early-adopter... -

- Im using Vista without a Virus scanner at the moment. I think I might have to go ahead and purchase the new NOD32 as it worked great in my XP days. Vista eats system resources, the last thing I need is a virus scanner eating whats left over. I just hope v3 lives upto its name as what v2.7 has in the past.

- The beta security suit ran great in Vista and I didn't notice any major peformance hits like I've seen with Norton and Mcafee's suit.

- I tried the beta while back on XP, crashed my computer as soon as the PC booted, luckily managed to disable it from start-up and revert back to 2.7. Hopefully the final version doesn't cause such problems, I've moved to Vista now so who knows!

- Spoke to Customer Services in the UK just now, they advised that current licence holders would be upgraded FREE to version 3 of NOD32 and would receive a prompt when its released whether or not to upgrade. The rest of the suite will be offered "at a preferential price" but she didn't have any details as of yet as its not released until next week.
I have a year or two left on my NOD32 licence so I think I will definitely be upgrading it to the rest of the suite

- NOD32 V3.0 is not available yet, I was told by Eset that it would be the 1st November and available on the resellers accounts on 5th November.
Also as far I'm aware NOD32 V2.7 users get a free upgrade to V3.0 and an upgrade price to go from NOD32 to Smart Security.

- I like NOD32, it's got the best heuristic detection and doesn't consume all my RAM.
