iTunes is a piece of software that lets you add to, organize and play your digital media collection on your computer, as well as sync it to a portable device. It's a jukebox player along the lines of MusicMatch and Windows Media Player, and you can use it on a Mac or Windows machine. The most significant difference between iTunes and some other media players is the built-in iTunes Music Store (where you can get podcasts, music videos, movies, audiobooks and TV shows, too) and its multi-level integration with Apple's iPod portable media player. With iTunes 7.4, sync your favorite music and more with the new iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod touch, plus create custom ringtones exclusively for iPhone with many of your favorite songs purchased from the iTunes Store. You can now also play purchased videos with closed captioning (when available), easily rate your favorite albums from one to five stars, and watch videos at a larger size inside the iTunes window.

Changelog:
  • Ability to activate iPhone wherever service is offered and support for Phase
  • A new interactive music game designed exclusively for iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod (fifth generation)
  • This release also includes bug fixes to improve stability and performance

Is this one actually worth upgrading to now? I haven't upgraded since 7.1.something since I got fed up updating for small things.

Yet another release that won't install without running Windows Installer Clean Up.

What do you mean? It installs fine for me.

Installed fine over here as well. I did uninstall the older version from Add/Remove first...

Works fine for me too. Installed over the top. Must be something wrong with your PC/installation, cos it certainitely works as intended.

I didn't have a problem installing it over either.

I don't have app compatibility or install problems any more... I stopped using driver clean-up tools... installer cleaning or anything else that I didn't need. They cause way more problems than they solve.
Dump all that rubbish and don't worry about every little file that collects on your system. My install is about a year old... XP doesn't fluctuate more than a gig. Just clean the temp and log files every few weeks. I can leave the machine running for a couple of months and nothing goes wrong.

Holy crap, it seems as though they may have FINALLY fixed the bug on Windows where iTunes hangs when you try to exit after syncing an iPhone or iPod Touch!

Have you seen the number of unnecessary background services that it runs?

51MB... and??

Where are you from, 1998?

I was really hoping that this would be the release that made itunes a piece of software worth using in vista, but still it runs so slow that it is really starting to pi** me off!
And now it suddenly won't import all the files any longer either. It just imports a few of the files selected the comes up with a error message saying I don't have the necessary rights!?!?!
