The combined installer does not work on x64 Vista.. Oh Joy!
I hope the Windows Live Messenger standalone installer will be available soon.

You're wrong ! It's working on Vista x64!
#2.2 Tantawi on 06 Nov 2007 - 13:20
It worked here too, Vista Ultimate x64.

Sorry but it does not work for me
I got the "Sorry, Windows Live programs cannot be installed on Windows Server, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, or Windows operating systems earlier than Windows XP Service Pack 2."
Just it did for the previous beta. Vista Ultimate x64 too.

Got the same error, but in XP x64 with SP2! GRRRRR! I hate 8.1 WLM! I want 8.5!

EDIT Download from here, standalone installer for WLM http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Chat...ssenger-8.shtml and it works. The WLinstaller one won't work. Odd.

That's odd.. maybe you got an old mirror?
If you go to the properties of the WLInstaller file you downloaded, does it have the new version number?
#7 +Vykranth on 06 Nov 2007 - 14:47
No, it was the good version. I downloaded with the link Mercury_22 provided.
The weird thing was that, when checking the properties, the WLInstaller.exe was to be run in Compatbility Mode for Windows 2000.
I have no clue why it was that way but once the compatibility mode was disabled, it worked nicely.

Does Live Photo Gallery still use the old turquoise/blue Live branding when installed on Vista? (The bar at the top of this screenshot) Also, does it replace Vista's Photo Gallery?

#13 Stuff5 on 06 Nov 2007 - 17:58

I hope the problem I've been having with Photo Gallery has been fixed:

Everytime I browse a directory (in explorer, not in Photo Gallery) containing large amounts of h264 quicktime files a quicktime process related to Photo Gallery would cause a huge CPU spike and make the system inresponsive
