but FileZilla is probably one of the best FREE ftp clients
Version 3.0.3 will be followed by 3.0.7 or something and then that will be followed by 3.1.1 a few days later and so forth ad infinitum. The real problem is - it's pretty much all bug fixes and not actual improvements to the program itself. Although, technically a bug fix IS an improvement I guess. The fact remains it is a chickenshit way to release software.
How about let's go back to the days when you didn't RELEASE software until it was considered READY?
I am sick to death of installing a program only to see a "new version" a few days later with hardly any noticeable difference. And very few of these guys provide for an in-place upgrade or patch-style installation. Oh no! You must first uninstall the previous version and install the new one.
I know people are going to say "but this means the programmers are more responsive and reactive and this is better quality programming and ... blah blah blah." I think the reverse is actually true. I believe programmers and software companies in general are a great deal lazier and sloppier than they ever were before. They just don't seem to care if they get it right because they know they will be releasing a new version in a very short time.
This is not an indictment against filezilla - I love the program. I am just tired of having to install a new version every week.
