Recuva pronounced "recover" is a freeware utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Windows Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses! Like all other Piriform products including CCleaner, Recuva is free for both commercial and personal use.

What's New:
  • Added image preview feature.
  • Redesigned find box.
  • Fixed sorting by state issue.
  • Better handling of the cluster array (bad allocation issue).
  • Fixed error during data processing (could freeze at 99%).
  • Improved support of sparse files.
  • Minor tweaks and fixes.

Yes, but it recover almost anything, including files lost after format a hard drive, and have a preview of files to see if they are good.

Like images it shows the image prwview, the txt files it shows the text, that way you will know if is that what you are looking for.
