K-Meleon is an extremely fast, customizable, lightweight web browser for the win32 (Windows) platform based on the Gecko layout engine (the rendering engine of Mozilla). K-Meleon is free, open source software released under the GNU General Public License.

What's New:

Update to latest Gecko engine 1.8.1.10. Also includes the new Update Checker Plugin, which is automatically checking for new releases once a week (can be disabled in the plugin preferences).

It's similar to Firefox, as it uses the same Gecko rendering engine, but it doesn't use XUL for the interface. As a result, K-Meleon uses less system resources and is ideal for older computers (think of it as Camino for Windows).

It's a bit more difficult to configure, but they're are many options. Even AdBlock can work: http://adblockplus.org/en/kmeleon

so your basically saying this K-Meleon should be noticeably faster on a older laptop with say a 233mhz intel with 64MB ram? vs say firefox (which i currently have on it)

UPDATE: just tested it on that old laptop... it does seem fairly quick especially considering the age of that laptop

Yes you can, but only with IDM....it has a feature in the General Tab (IDM) in order to catch downloads from software trying to downoad from the internet.....just check this option, and you'll be able to download from K-meleon via IDM.....

i know of that feature but IDM doesnt totally integrate into that browser. its fast but of no use to me without IDM.
