Quero Toolbar is a navigation bar replacement with an integrated ad blocker for Internet Explorer. Quero evolves the user interface of IE by combining both the benefits of IE6 (flexible toolbar layout) and IE7 (integrated search) into one address bar-like toolbar.

Key features:

- All-In-One Toolbar: replaces the standard navigation bar
- Search instantly from the address bar
- Ad & Flash Blocker
- Quick Type & Find (supersedes the find dialog)
- Highlight Search Terms
- Cursor Search
- Go To Text URLs
- Zoom Web Page
- Drag & Drop support
- Display favicons in taskbar
- IDN support with anti-spoofing techniques
- Customize IE7 (resize/shorten your address bar again)
- Quero respects your privacy

This toolbar looks pretty gimmicky and adware-like...

Looks stupid and useless.
In their website: "enjoy faster web browsing"... hahahaha yeah right..

As mentioned earlier Quero contains an optional content filter. By filtering external content from Web pages, the browser has to usually contact only one server and needs to download fewer and smaller files. This makes in fact browsing faster. Try lynx (a text based Web browser) if you do not believe me!

Additionally, the new user interface of Quero integrates the redundant search box and find on page dialog right into the address bar which can save you time as well.

@lecter

Really? How did you come to this judgment? Have you actually tried it?

I can assure you that Quero does not contain adware and that I take privacy very seriously. Quero never sends anything home and does not poll for updates. It was designed from the very beginning as a friendly and user-centric add-on. Quero is a search engine independent research project from a PhD student in Austria/Europe.

What's the "research project" that you are doing?

security, user interface design, content filtering to name only a few applied research areas

looks awefully tacky and the fact that IE 7 has these ''add-ons'' just goes to show how bad it really is.
#4.1 Viktor78 on 04 Dec 2007 - 13:45
Why? Other browers have add-ons too.

Too bad it changes the icons to uglier ones.

You might have some vision problems then - here are some of the more subtle differences that you might notice upon looking more closely.

White and brown buttons instead of blue.
Large QUERO branding (not present in IE7 by default).
No evident history dropdown list like in IE (denoted by the little arrow next to the Forward/Back buttons).
No quick indication that a site offers a search plugin.

Its strange, but I really don't see how this adds any more functionality than the existing IEpro software.

>White and brown buttons instead of blue.

If you prefer blue buttons instead of white you can downlaod different themes at:

>Large QUERO branding (not present in IE7 by default)

Agreed, but the Quero button also offers access to the toolbar menu if you click on it.

>No evident history dropdown list like in IE

I adopted the design of Opera in this case. Right-clicking on the back button displays the session history.

>No quick indication that a site offers a search plugin.

Agreed, this is on my to do list.

Quero is a navigation toolbar, I doubt you can say this about IEpro.

I forgot to ask, did you obtain original author permissions for those themes on your site?
#6.5 Viktor78 on 06 Dec 2007 - 11:40
Yes, I did.

I'm yet to find a toolbar that has any use what so ever. The best addition to any default toolbar is the search box.

ohhhh ****, someone posted software with an adblocker in it on neowin. QUICK Call neobond so he can come and bitch about the ads being blocked on neowin and his pockets going dry!
#8.1 Viktor78 on 06 Dec 2007 - 11:39
I do not think this is true. People who dislike ads and are willing to install and use an ad blocker would not click on ads anyway. Besides, if I like a certain Web site, I intentionally view ads on that site to support it.

Thank you for the vivid discussion.

Here is another screenshot with the upcoming Tango theme:
