strongly agree! ... thats why i stoped using Nero after version 6... and switched to ImgBurn+Burrrn (both load super fast, especially Burrrn) as my primary burning apps now and i also have InfraRecorder installed as a backup... i completely uninstalled Nero... plus since all the programs i use are free you just install and use... no messing around with CD KEYS etc etc.

You are aware that installations come with a "Custom" installation option right? You don't actually have to install all the bloat. Nero Burning Rom (the burning app) is still kick ass and doesn't need all the extra stuff.

Is the xbox360 streaming feature of Nero even necessary now that ithe 360 supports divx?
#4.1 ThaCrip on 19 Dec 2007 - 18:37
xbox360 (with newest dashboard update) will play DivX/XviD from a DVD recordable disc or a external hdd etc

... and from Windows Media Player 11 or Zune Software over a network. What's your point?

no stupid streaming, thats the point. Much easier to play straight off a disc.

Stupid streaming? It's infinitely easier to stream than to have to burn a disc and then load it up on the 360.

Anyway, the point of the first post was that Nero is no longer needed for streaming since the 360 supports native DivX streaming now.

Don't try installing anything from Adobe's Creative Suite then
#6 vetneufuse on 19 Dec 2007 - 15:24

when will they give us a standalone CD-DVD burning app? Nero alone is nice but this bundle is terrible.
#7.1 anonymous_user on 19 Dec 2007 - 22:40
Here here!

There is Nero Micro though.
#7.2 +TCLN Ryster on 20 Dec 2007 - 11:08
Why is everyone under the mistaken impression that all the bloat gets installed wether you like it or not?

It doesn't.

There is a "Custom" installation option you know.
#8 Croquant on 19 Dec 2007 - 15:53
Whatever floats your bloat.
#9 krasch on 19 Dec 2007 - 17:01
If you don't like bloat, try installing in expert mode...

This is not about installing only what we want, it's about we have to pay for what we DON'T need.

If people only want Nero Burning Rom, why they include other applications which would be useless to most of the users?

In my case i only want Wave Editor, but for that i need Burning Rom, so i look for alternatives to capture/edit audio.

My first and last Nero was Nero 6 (really fast) which have come with the DVD Writer, from there i never tried Nero anymore.

This is the reason why people are looking for alternatives to Nero, they don't need extra apps.

I bet they will make more money if they release each application separately, and off course application packs for those which can be interested.

Nero is a similar price now to what it was a few years back before all the bloat crept in, so your point doesn't stand.

Doesn't matter if it's similar price or not.

I just don't want to pay for Software i don't need, and to pay for a Burning Application i've payed for Ashampoo Burning Studio, which is faster in everything (at least compared to Nero 7, since i haven't tried Nero 8, but from what i can see from other users it's even worst).

Nero Burning ROM
Nero Cover Designer
Nero Tool Kit
Nero Show time
Nero Wave Editor
Nero Soundtrax

All pretty good apps that I have used quite a bit. The installer is just a disaster though.
#11.1 EL1TE on 19 Dec 2007 - 17:32
Maybe they are good applications, however not all people need it.

As you can see above in my case i just need Wave Editor, since there's no Stand Alone of that application, there's no deal.

Anyway there's a lot of free, and good applications out there which can replace any of the Nero ones.

NOTE about using Nero's update check: Don't let it! If you do, it does nicely uninstall the current version, but then proceeds to install ALL of itself instead of just what you had installed before! So, uninstall yourself, then run the new download, and select in expert mode. Man what an oversight. heh
#12.1 tombailey on 19 Dec 2007 - 21:40
Just tried it and it worked fine - it uninstalled itself, then only installed the new versions of those apps I'd had on before.

Pffff.....crap.....use AshampooBurningStudio or CdBurnerXp instead.....!!!
#13.1 magik on 20 Dec 2007 - 04:01
... or Oront Burning Studio
