nothing in the release notes about UT3

Ouch, their new drivers page is horrible. Solid black background, red text. Do they have to suck at everything they do these days?
#2.1 FusionOpz on 21 Dec 2007 - 05:29
They are owned by AMD afterall

Too bad that isn't very relevant. I'm sure AMD doesn't walk into their offices just to tell them what colors to use.

Come on now, red/black have been ATI since forever now. Jeez...
#2.3 TRC on 22 Dec 2007 - 03:01
Erm, their logo is red and white. Not that it really matters, it's horrible web page design no matter what the company colors are. Having red text on a black background is just idiotic.

Oh gawd... still forcing steam in the install... canceling it aint pretty
#3.1 Cephas on 21 Dec 2007 - 01:26
No it doesn't... just uncheck "free games offer".

And where is that option? When I install all I get is the option for Earthism and Install Drivers. I just click exit setup once it gets to Steam. It is pretty stupid to try and force us to install that each time. You'd at least think they'd put some functionality in there for detecting whether or not steam was already installed so we wouldn't have to mess with this each time...

Chose the "Custom" install option rather than "Express" ... not hard.

When the ATI Installer appear select Custom

Then later will appear a menu which let you install only what you want.

I wish they would address the majority of the users and fix all the game holes and video playing glitches. Not focus on the minority who use it for 3dmark.
They are slowly, but surely pushing me towards an Nvidia card.

^ Nvidia is no better. I alternate nvidia/ati products each time I upgrade and I've found both companies drivers have glaring issues.
#5.1 TRC on 21 Dec 2007 - 06:39
I wish there were some more players in the 3D card market. I miss 3dfx and PowerVR.

Are these drivers ok for AGP cards?
#6.1 Rob2687 on 21 Dec 2007 - 05:47
This driver supports the 9500 and higher (PCI, AGP and PCI-E).

Whoa whoa! So they've actually FIXED the problem with previous drivers (7.7 - 7.11) not working on AGP?

tried installing this while running SP1 RC and the drivers will not install, says its an unsupported operating system! Ouch
#7.1 +Lexcyn on 21 Dec 2007 - 13:57
Which version of the RC are you running? I have SP1 installed on my system and they installed fine. Could be a bug in ATI's installer though (I did a clean install of SP1 w/Vista Ultimate).

Mmm how will this drivers work on an x800gto???
(1 reply) #11 Kr0m on 22 Dec 2007 - 00:42
Fubar, make sure you do a clean uninstall of the drivers. I had to go in and make sure all files folders and reg keys were gone before I could use drivers above 7.7 on with my x1650 card. (damn software vendors and they're ratty uninstallers)
