one of the best - if not the best Yeah I know about eset but it didn't actually catch the virus i had while bitdefender did. Props to them.

ps nothing beats online scanners

Not the best not even close. NOD32 has it all over this.

That same comparison has Avira beating NOD.

As for the comparisons between BitDefender, NOD32, and Avira, there's several different tests. The full November reports and overview might give more insight.

Overview for 2004-2007
November 2007 full report

It looks like Avira was ahead of NOD32 in some tests, while overall NOD32 was rated much higher. Avira and BitDefender have a higher rate of "false alarms" along with their detection rates, which hurt their ratings. Also, the version they tested in November was NOD32 2.70, while I think the current version is 3.0.

Just thought someone might find those links useful.
