November 2007 full report
It looks like Avira was ahead of NOD32 in some tests, while overall NOD32 was rated much higher. Avira and BitDefender have a higher rate of "false alarms" along with their detection rates, which hurt their ratings. Also, the version they tested in November was NOD32 2.70, while I think the current version is 3.0.
