Mp3tag is a powerful and yet easy-to-use tool to edit metadata (ID3, Vorbis Comments and APE) of common audio formats. It can rename files based on the tag information, replace characters or words from tags and filenames, import/export tag information, create playlists and more. The program supports online freedb database lookups for selected files, allowing you to automatically gather proper tag information for select files or CDs. Mp3tag supports the following audio formats: Advanced Audio Coding (aac); Free Lossless Audio Codec (flac); Monkey's Audio (ape); Mpeg Layer 3 (mp3); MPEG-4 (mp4 / m4a); Musepack (mpc); Ogg Vorbis (ogg); OptimFROG (ofr); OptimFROG DualStream (ofs); Speex (spx); True Audio (tta); Windows Media Audio (wma) and WavPack (wv). Also available for download from the author website is the Mp3tag Audio Indexer Plugin for Google Desktop Search. Supports AAC, APE, APL, FLAC, MP3, MP4, M4A, M4B, MP+, MPC, OFR, OFS, OGG, SPX, TTA and WV.

Changelog:
  • FIX: saving cover art in APEv2 tags omitted last byte of cover art file.
  • FIX: 'Retry' at renaming of locked files did not have the expected effect.
  • FIX: minor fixes at saving selection state of action groups.

This is BETA software!, please use caution when installing it on your system

I seriously can't imagine how I imagined tagging files before I found this app like two years ago. It's amazing, especially once you consider the price.

Yes. It's a big change though, so give it a chance.

this app is very nice. but there are 2 things about it that I dont like. mp3tag won't always rename a file with special character in tags. it makes a new folder and then moves the files there unchanged and renames the rest of them.

second, when I select more that 20 files and then open mp3tag then it won't open atall.so I have to manually open the program and then drag all files myself in it.

but tag&rename never caused me problems like that

I tried mediamonkey after using mp3tag for awhile. I like mediamonkey much better.
