- You can download direct from Kool Lite Tools (www.klitetools.com/comments.php?catid=53&shownews=5288 ) I'm not sure why they changed the original download link but the current one does not work.

- The Java website refers to this download as "Java SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 4 First Customer Ship". What does "First Customer Ship" mean? Is this yet another bit of terminology meaning Beta?

- Copied from SQLtester.com
"FCS is the period which signifies entry into the final phase of a project. At this point, the product is considered wholly complete and ready for purchase and usage by the customers."

- I'm just happy this seems to have fixed all the problems with update 3.
I haven't been able to get update 3 to work in IE7 for months now, and u4 works perfectly.

- I'll stick with MS's JVM. It still works flawlessly and not as crappy as this thing from Sun!

That's funny.
Microsoft's Java hasn't been updated in years and doesn't work with most things. It defeats the whole purpose of Java.

- Hi,
The MS JavaVM is no longer supported by MS and was discontinued many years ago.
It has lots of security issues and is a major way that malware will get into your PC.
I would strongly advise you uninstall it and use the latest Sun JavaVM.
Regards
Simon

- Or just never install java at all. No java? No java viruses. Simple.

- you might be right but so much stuff requires it... although i have java script enabled (as you pretty much have to have it enabled otherwise a good chunk of sites wont work) but i have the "Enable Java" unchecked in Firefox
as most of the places i visit dont need that and the ones that do i just manually enable it when i need it and then disable it after that.
although a good idea in general if you ask me is to install a add-on for firefox called "NoScript" ( www.noscript.net ) as it blocks pretty much everything java script and java related until you enable it on a per-site basis
... which is easy to do to as it just take a couple clicks and it's permanently enabled on the site you choose to allow it on etc etc etc
