It has been my favorite player for years now... and it will last!
Updating...

5.5 was a real dissapoint, the info for MP3 now has all this extended rubbish that I don't need, it wronly identified my songs (yes gracenote's fault not aols), its buggy when switching themes (playlist goes back to default size - wtf?) and winamp remote, what a joke... I made a PHP remote control script for 5.35 and I'm sticking with 5.35, had no problems with it and it suits my needs perfectly

My (almost) only media player too, but are the "fixes" REALLY enough to justify a new build?

What about some new features?... how about a menu system for MKV compatibility alternative audio/ subtitle stream choice.., or how about a full video options right click menu for the full scren video mode... with these things it truely would become my only media player, as it is I have to use VLC occasionally (mkv and stuff).

It's "5.51 to 5.52", not "5.51 to 7.65", so I would say: Yes, indeed.

To put it a different way for the sarcastic..

The changelog is justified by the difference in numbering being only 0.01, yes... but a difference of 0.01 is NOT justified by a whole new release.

Satisfied?

How can you fix important crash bugs without releasing a new version?

Yes its justified. Don't tell you like those "version 5.563, build 8.213.522.35" types of things.

5.51 -> 5.52. Simple stuff. End of story.

Fixed: [in_mp3] Ultravox streaming metadata stack overflow

5.52 is a security patch release.
This release was brought forward ahead of the usual release schedule.

Normal procedure will resume for 5.53.

Not to diss winamp, but since I've found foobar and how superior it's album managing interface is I stopped using WinAMP. Great application though - once they improve their play list more I might go back, but not now.

Same. I used Winamp for music-playing until recently, and gave Foobar another try (used it before, never quite got used to it). It's faster, more stable, and does what I want.

But as the OP said, Winamp is still a very good program... Just getting a little bloated IMO.

More than happy with Winamp. More features, fast, easy to use.

Dont like bloat? Get the lite version and run in classic!

"Dont like bloat? Get the lite version and run in classic!"

Exactly what I do and have done for a LONG time.

same, first i was using WMP then WinAmp and now Foobar, unlike other players i can't see using anything else but foobar.

What's wrong with WMP11?
#5.1 n_K on 19 Jan 2008 - 12:51
Open an SPC file in WMP, in fact try opening: ogg, mod, it, s3m, xm, spc, nes, sc68, umx, gym, gb, sid, wtf (not what the... ), wsf or any one of a thousand formats
