Free Download Manager (FDM) is a full-featured download accelerator and manager. Using this software product you can easily download a list of files and whole web sites from any remote server via HTTP, HTTPS and FTP. With FDM the downloading process will be as easy as never before. FDM is a light-weight, powerful and easy-to-use application. Also this software product is well-known for its intuitive and user-friendly interface. FDM can function as a site manager, accelerator, site explorer and scheduler. FDM can resume broken downloads. So you needn't start the downloading process from the very beginning after casual interruption. You can resume unfinished download from the moment when it was interrupted. Also this program warns you if resuming isn't supported by the servers. It allows you to make a decision about the downloading. So with FDM you save your time and money. FDM allows adjusting traffic usage. So it provides you with an opportunity to browse web pages much faster if you use a low connection speed.

Notes:
FDM Lite version requires less size and lacks some functions (BitTorrent support, video conversion and upload manager) that can be downloaded and installed as plugins later.

Extremely stable here. Has more features then Orbit and my downloads are quicker. Orbit site comes up red and bad according to McAfee site advisor.

i haven't had FDM crash on me in years and i download at least 20 files every single day from different websites / forums (and no, not porn) on 2000, xp and vista (32 and 64 bit)

it's a stable download manager and has tons of advanced features so i dono what manager Slim and th3r were looking at but it wasn't FDM

if you don't want all the features, download the Lite version of FDM and that'll do ya

I love FDM cause it will "throttle" the download speed automatically when I or someone in my network is browsing the web (make sure they get the priority)

This is the first download manager that I didn't uninstall immediately. I've been using it for about 3 months or so and it has never crashed even though I keep it open all the time. I love the firefox integration, but I only use the light version and don't use the other features other than download managing.
