Looks useful for massive copying.

Whew, finally... a software I updated before NeoWin knew it...

To avoid misunderstandings:
TeraCopy doesn't accelerate file operations at all.

But it helps copying/moving large amounts of files by adding sth like a "queue", which avoids deadlocks and can be paused/resumed whenever it's needed... thus, it's a great improvement.

By the way:
TC2 has also got neater progress bars than 1.x had.

I have to disagree, on testing with and without this it definately copies files much faster.

Maybe it depends on the operating system and the used hardware...?
I didn't perceive big differences, moving a few 100 MBytes almost every day...

A few 100Mb is practically nothing... The program is called TeraCopy and it does accelerate considerably larger (I use it for backups etc - multiple hundreds of Gb).

Had this for a while now...great for skipping corrupt files

Again and for the third time, "Steven" post the news I submitted without giving me any credits. That's not funny, you don't show any kind of respect to the poster. Why should I submit news again?!

Just don't do it. Why wasting your time, nobody really interested in software news will rely on neowin news section. 80% of the post are spam posted by the developers itselft and the other 20 are news posted a week late.

You don't know WinFuture.de if you call NeoWin "late"...

Beta 2 was out since November last year. Still no proper 64bit support, which is a shame really. I miss this tool on XP64.

Ah... I can't currently test it, but is TC still hanging if copying large directories to a partition with just enough free space?

Does TeraCopy support queued operations? The last time I checked, it doesn't support a queue list.

Edit: Just checked, the pro version has the queue feature. Getting the trial to see if it's worth the $20 license.

Also, a portable version would be nice to have on my USB flash drive.

Check this one:
http://www.copyhandler.com/en/downloads/index.php - Copy Handler...

I've switched from TeraCopy to this one, it supports queued operations and better yet it's Open Source.

more info....

COPY HANDLER - http://www.copyhandler.com/en/downloads/index.php

- copying data at rates up to 6-7 times faster than standard MS Windows copying (when copying data from one partiton to another on the same physical hard disk);

- allow full-control over the copying/moving process by pause, resume, restart and cancel features;

- fully customizable - over 60 detailed options - from setting language (multiple languages) through auto-resume on error, shutting down system after copying finished to very detailed and technical (customizing copy/move thread - buffer sizes, thread priority, ...) ending on sounds on specific events;

- multiple languages support - and more may appear, since the translation process is quite easy;

- provides detailed informations about copy/move process (currect file, buffer sizes, priority, progress by size and visual bar, status, current and average speed, time elapsed/left, ...);

- can automatically resume all unfinished operations when system starts;

- limiting count of simultaneously processing tasks (copyings/movings) - tasks are set into a queue and are processed in order it was inserted into queue;

- integration with system - adds additional commands to context menus of folders and drag&drop menus;

- this program is open source - just download and use...
