Apple has released iPhone software version 1.1.4. The 162.1MB patch is available for download and installation through iTunes.

Apple isn't making a big deal about the release, beyond letting users know it "includes bug fixes and supersedes all previous versions." Some reports claim the update improves the reliability of Bluetooth, SMS and Mail on the iPhone, and that it boosts signal strength on mobile networks, but these haven't yet been confirmed.

However, Apple has been expected to ship its iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) this month, enabling a new industry creating third party applications for the iPod touch and the iPhone to emerge. While reports have recently circulated claiming the release of the iPhone SDK may be delayed, it's also likely that the iPhone 1.1.4 updates contains functionality to support the installation of new applications.

Yeah i did this yesterday and it crashed the install the first time and I had to restore to factory settings then install the update then restore from a backup of my settings to get all my songs, videos, and most important my software package i purchased. All in all it was not that big of a pain just confusing to why they did it like that.

What about the obvious bugs for iPod Classic?

Their minor upgrades are so annoying. 150MB a pop kinda sucks when you're jailbreaking your way up to the most recent. Bring on the incremental updates (which I doubt).

I had the same problem as Scout82, got error 1602 and had to restore but it left 1.1.4 installed. But the worse thing was it removed my 20 dollar purchase of the 'January Software Upgrade' sounds like apple didn't test it with 1.1.4 so I'd call it theft removing a purchased upgrade.

My advice don't upgrade any iPod firmware until it's been out there a couple of months
