Backup4all is a backup utility that allows you to easily backup to any local or network drive, backup to FTP (with support for SSL encryption, proxy server, passive mode), backup to CD/DVD, or other removable media (such as USB drives).

What's new in Backup4all 3.11:
  • Backup4all is now compatible with Windows Server 2008
  • Fully compatible with latest Windows Vista SP1
  • "Clean backup" option now available via command line too
  • Fixed compatibility issue when DEP was activated in Windows Vista
  • More than 80 backup plugins now available - latest added plugins: CounterSpy, Bioshock, Crysis, Call of Duty, Gears of War and Unreal Tournament (complete list at here )
  • Other bug fixes for Backup4all and Backup4all for U3

Also surely something like Carbonite works out better value for money ?

How could paying a monthly fee vs paying a one time sum be better (at least from the financial point of view)?

I'd rather pick any offline version than a online one like Carbonite. Why? Imagine you want to backup your C:\ drive where you have Windows Vista. Need to say more?
