Nice, I need to retry SmartFTP again. I've been using WinSCP and having disconnection problems. I am not sure though if this is WinSCP or my FTP server. Time to find out...

Anyone knows how I can disable transfer queue? I just want to use the good old direct transfer mode and I couldn't find a way to do so

You can't transfer queue is the only model of working now.

This may just be the thing that pushes me to another client then, sadly. I've been a SmartFTP user for a good many years, too.

I second this. I can not stand the transfer queue. I need FTP for files here and there. I don't use it like a torrent client for downloading huge files anymore so having a queue is pointless. I just want to grab a file and drop it on my desktop or vice versa.
