- This just shows what people can do with the .NET framework if they want to. At this rate it could give other big named photo and editing apps a run for their money.

Hehe, I would say that it shows what people can do despite the immature .NET framework. Still, Pant.net has troubles with big images...but then again so do many other apps.

- Ability to save PNG's at 8- and 24-bit color depthsI assume it has always been able to do 24-bit PNG images. Did it only just now get the ability to save an 8-bit PNG?

- I don't think so. I seem to recall always being able to save as either 8-bit or 24-bit PNG. But I think 100% of the time I choose 24-bit PNG so I'm not sure.

Paint.NET v3.30 Released: April 10th, 2008
This release adds an Italian translation, a new "Fragment Blur" effect, and the ability to save PNG images at 8- and 24-bit color depths. For developers, the IndirectUI system has some new controls, some new constraint rules, and can now be used for file type plugins.
