Downloaded it, but when I try to install it, it says the file is corrupt!

This is from their own website - if they can't put up a working installer then what's the actual software gonna be like!?

RegCompact.net destroyed my registry (it made the Explorer go crazy); is RegDefrag any better?

Just downloaded it from elsewhere, and ran it.

Works fine, hasnt screwed my PC up, and it reported it compacted my registry by 6%.

No performance gains noticable though!

I am friends with the developer of JV16 PowerTools.
Jouni states that any/all programs used to defragment the registry are all the same.
It's just a Windows built-in function they tie onto to accomplish this.
You take an existing registry hive, rebuild it to a new file which is contiguous (no gaps), reboot and use that as your new hive.
The performance gain is only noticable after you reach percentages like 15%-20%.
10 years ago you'd notice the difference of 5% but with today's modern systems it takes severe conditions for things to become noticable.
