PE Explorer provides a UI for exploring and editing the contents of EXE, DLL, ActiveX controls, and other 32-bit executable file formats. Functions include disassembly and inspection of unknown binaries and modification of properties of executable files. Enjoy the comfort of being able to have all the necessary tools in one simple, clean interface.When you first choose to explore an executable, PE Explorer shows you information about the headers of the file, such as the number of code sections, the size of the image, the application subsystem, and the stack size information. Another view offers you an overview of the section headers in the executable — double-clicking a section header brings up a window gives you the ability to explore the contents of each section.
Visual editing features let you quickly view, extract, modify, rebuild, delete, customize, or translate executable file resources from within the file. Dialog boxes, menus, string tables, icons, typelib and more are right at your fingertips. Other features include automatic UPX and Upack unpacking, adding of XP and Vista control styles to older applications, a Digital Signature viewer, and more. IF we are talking about PE Explorer, it's a top-notch piece of software that worth every penny (for those who really have a clue as to what it does).
I think he was talking about MS Vista, I don't know if it is poorly-coded (no-one know, it is not open source), but it surely is over-priced.
