Quero is the alternate navigation bar and ad blocker for Internet Explorer and is the first toolbar which supports the Aero Glass effect in Windows Vista. The idea behind Quero is to replace the fixed address bar, search box and find on page dialog of IE7 by combining them into one address bar-like toolbar. The new release natively runs in the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer under Vista x64 and is also slightly faster than the 32-bit counterpart.

Key features:
  • Customize IE7: resize/shorten your address bar again
  • Search instantly from the address bar
  • Ad & Flash Blocker (optional)
  • Quick Type & Find (supersedes the find dialog)
  • Highlight search terms
  • Cursor search
  • Go to text URLs
  • Paste and go
  • Full page zoom
  • Display favicons in taskbar
  • IDN support with anti-spoofing techniques
  • Quero respects your privacy (spyware & adware free, no auto-update)

I think they REALLY should have worked a bit harder on the name.
Can't think of more than one way to pronounce it and it isn't flattering!

hmm, do you know Freud?

The official pronounciation of Quero is ['kwir-o] or ['kwer-o] and is derived from the Latin verb "quaere" (to search), "quaero" (I search). Also think about the Spanish "quiero" (I love).

Who uses the 64-bit version of IE anyway? It might be more viable if it was supported by other software vendors such as Adobe.

I agree, that many software vendors including Google, Adobe, Microsoft have not released 64-bit versions of their plugins (Google Toolbar, Flash, Silverlight). But someone has to do the first step, the rest will follow.

Quero actually makes IE x64 more useable, since its built-in Flash blocker prevents that the information bar pops up and informing you that Flash is not installed all the time you encounter a page with Flash.

Quero is not yet another toolbar, but a replacement for the fixed address/navigation bar in IE7.
