- Before anyone scrreams "it was delayed haha!" it is out late because they took time to make sure it worked right at launch, they COULD of launched it in feb, but with reduced func and problems, kinda like how SQL 2005 was with missing reatures (that where added in at SP1) but this delay was a good thing

- sound like a performance update of sql server 2005 and it is good.
But yet the sql express 2008 is still in the CTP stage.

No express is RTM too... you can get the RTM version in the enterprise RTM download as one of the possible installation levels

- I currently use SQL Express 2005.
Is there any major benefit to upgrading to 2008?

- Unfortunately, if you are running Visual Studio 2008, you have to wait until SP1 for that is released before you can install SQL Server 2008. And the Beta2 of SP1 for VS2008 is not accepted.

SQL Server 2008 was originally scheduled to ship with Visual Studio 2008 and Windows Server 2008 in this years HEROES launch event but since SQL Server 2008 wasnt ready for prime time in February, it was slipped to release in Q4 of 2008.
