Quicksys RegDefrag is a freeware utility to defrag registry.

Registry data is constantly being written to and removed during a normal Windows operation. Over time this data becomes fragmented. It optimizes registry by removing gaps, fragments and wasted space in Windows registry files.

This application will help you improve the whole performance of your PC and will boost the access to registry.

Change-log:
- Improved new algorithm to defrag registry.
- Improved HTML report with defrag information.
- Improved alert about necessary free space to defrag registry.
- Improved ascending sorting of column at Registry Information.
- Improved new multi-language system with separate language files.
- Improved perfomance in Windows x64.
- Fixed text in Defrag Analysis. Example: changed "/REGISTRY/MACHINE" to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".
- Fixed bug in backups. The backups files are stored at default registry folder.
- Added new option to remove backups at Uninstall.
- Memory usage optimizations.
- Added new languages: Italian and Spanish.
- GUI improvements.
- Minor bug fixed.

Oh thank goodness, my system has gone to hell because of its darn fragmented registry.

Defragmenting the registry doesn't boost anything.

That is false.
Defragmenting the registry is beneficial for older systems with low system specs. I had a 733 MHz w/ 256MB RAM and a 40GB HDD about 7 years ago and defragmenting/compacting my registry once every month gave about a 5-10% performance increase.
I could tell by measuring application launch/open times.
If you use RegMon and do simple tasks you will see just how many hundreds of registry queries are made.
If you take those and think about compacting your registry by 500 KBs (7%) perhaps, you'll begin to understand how it makes the overall performance better by that 5-10%. If the system has to skip over 500 KBs of gaps in the hives to perform a few basic operations (or complex ones), that can take additional time.
In reality, it may be fractions of a second or an entire second in total after combining several tasks together.

Keep in mind, this is more applicable for older systems.
Today's systems benefit less from it.

Finally, just because you feel this program does not benefit you personally does not mean the programmer is wasting their time.

Cheers.
