Thanks Maikel for posting this on our forum.Pidgin is a multi-protocol Instant Messaging client that allows you to use all of your IM accounts at once.
Pidgin is free software. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2. This means you are free to use it and to modify it, but if you distribute your modifications you must distribute the modified source code as well.

Pidgin is basically missing a wide range of plug-ins..
To each their own. =p
Some have recommended Red Hat.
These days are very exciting times for general/intermediate users to make the above mentioned changes.
Pidgin is just what I need. Clean and simple.
Have to agree with you all who like the plain and simple!!
Going to have to see how this operates in Windows. I like it in Linux.
Edit:
Checked it out in Windows.
Nope, not for me there. Much better in Linux.

- Personal messages are now supported. They are treated as status messages.
- Offline IM is now supported
Oh, snap! Pidgin FTW!
This might actually bring Pidgin up to my wife's standard. The world stands still... but for only a moment...
ill test new version 2.5 and see if anything changed.
either way it's been my default IM program since it was galled gaim a while back.

It's not doing that for me. Did you update or do a clean install? (I updated.)

i updated
Developers removed in Pidgin 2.50 the line "Has you: Yes/No" that appeared in the extra info pop up when you hovered the mouse on a buddy in your contact list ( I'm using 2 MSN accounts at the same time in Vista64 SP1)
(sorry for my English)
that was a nice feature, bring it back please
I see your point, though. It is like having an MSN and Yahoo account and using Pidgin for the MSN part but still using Yahoo IM client.
