Stardock is excited to announce that “phase two” of its digital download platform, Impulse, has begun and all updates, new games and software applications will soon be live. Phase two of Impulse sees new games from 2k (Civilizations III, Shattered Union, Sid Meier’s Pirates! and Sid Meier’s Railroads!) and Tilted Mill’s Children of the Nile enhanced edition. New software applications include a host of Corel applications like WordPerfect Office X4, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4, and Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 as well as software applications from Genie Soft, Iolo, and AVG Internet Security and Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware software.

Phase two of Impulse also adds the ability for users to install and update third-party freeware programs that are available via Impulse. This makes the transfer of the catalogue of programs installed on a user’s machine extraordinarily simple from machine to machine as it’s all centrally located on Impulse. Phase two has already addressed user feedback and incorporates significantly faster load times, downloads, a smart queue option and a smarter updating process which exponentially decreases processing time for updates.

If Stardock wants people to take Impulse seriously, then they need to step back, pull their head out of their asses, and fix this piece of garbage. That is all.

They should scrap it.

Nice constructive criticism guys.

Well, when something doesn't work, what else is there to say?

There were other ways to express your concerns about the product without showing ones immaturity.

There were other ways to express your concerns about how we're expressing our concerns about the product without sounding like a little bitch.

You think that I'm immature because I said they should scrap it? Do you always call people immature if they criticize?

You're absolutely right, they should scrap it. Stardock: See Steam

Do they really think they can compete with Steam?

Who is competing with Steam? It is not like whoever uses Steam won't use this one..

No. Not at all. I bet they think they can.

Who is competing with Steam?

Well, let's see. Stardock, EA Link, Direct2Drive, and anyone else offering digital distribution. *Especially* ones that are offering the same titles.

It is not like whoever uses Steam won't use this one..

I use Microsoft products and Google's. Does that mean they don't compete with each other? Don't kid yourself.

Impulse has added a few games already available on Steam. If a game is available on both platforms you'd better believe I'm buying it on Steam and not Impulse. If for example these games are available on BOTH platforms (which they are), you explain to me how that's not competition?
Tank Universal
Unreal Tournament III
Unreal Tournament 2004
Unreal Gold
Unreal II: The Awakening

Gee...let's see. Steam was the first major digital distribution platform. It was anything BUT a gem when it first launched, and still has it's fair share of border-line-show-stopping problems.

So, please, stop with the OMG IMPULSE IS TEH ROFL garbage.

It's inane, and one of the many reasons people avoid this website.

First of all, its not only garbage software. It is tainted with dll's from Windowblinds and made by a hypocritical company that bashes DRM for the sole purpose of pushing its game sales (while they include copy protection and drm in Windowblinds and their end user software)
