Pidgin is an instant messaging program for Windows, Linux, BSD, and other Unixes. You can talk to your friends using AIM, ICQ, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, QQ, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MySpaceIM, and Zephyr.

Pidgin can log in to multiple accounts on multiple IM networks simultaneously. This means that you can be chatting with friends on AIM, talking to a friend on Yahoo Messenger, and sitting in an IRC channel all at the same time.

Pidgin runs on a number of platforms, including Windows, Linux, and other UNIX operating systems. Looking for Pidgin for OS X? Try Adium!

Nice, the more they work in libpurple, the better Adium will be on the Mac

overall best IM app out there in my opinion although it does tend to eat up more and more ram when using it on vista the longer you talk to people where as on XP it seemed to not do this.

if that fix that then it will be dang near perfect.

That's a GTK bug. Try downgrading GTK.

Hopefully they've fixed the issue that was causing it to constantly crash (judging by the coloured blocks it produced, I'd guess it was a rendering issue of some kind).

This will be fixed in 2.5.2. But patch is already available if you feel like recompiling 2.5.1 version

Ok, seriously this is too much lol in one day. Google Chrome is frieken amazing, I love the new Picasa3, and Pidgin finally does what I wanted it to do!! I have been using Digsby until now because of multiple Im features, but digsby still has memory issues in Vista for me and I just like the pidgin interface a whole lot more, and runs fast!
