IconDeveloper is an application which allows users to easily create their own Windows icons. IconDeveloper isn't a drawing application, but lets you import images created in other application like Photoshop, and quickly turn them into icons.

IconDeveloper will also allow you to recolor icons, do batch conversions, add new sizes, and even incorporates itself into the Windows shell for simple access using the right-click menu.

New and updated features in v2.10:
  • Added new settings Open File Location and Save File Location which store last locations used to open/save files
  • Added ability to pass in argument to open a specific icon within a collection for editing from command line
  • Added a command line function that will load and save a single icon or collection or all icons and collections in a folder
  • Added a Maintain Aspect Ratio option to the Icon from Image operation
  • Decreased overall memory usage
  • Fixed numerous bugs
IconDeveloper 2.10 is available stand-alone for $19.95, or part of the Object Desktop Ultimate suite of desktop enhancements.

Why would someone pay for a program like this when there are several that will do the exact same thing for free?

No idea. I use the icon plug-in with Paint.net for saving PNGs as icons and it does an absolutely awesome job.

IcoFX is also a great program. It's not quite as feature rich as programs like Axialis' IconWorkshop, but it is far more useful than this particular tool (and is $19.95 cheaper).
