Finally! I couldn't get BurnAware Free 2.2.2 to work on Win7, kept saying I didn't have a supported burner, yet the same version worked fine on the same machine with Vista installed. Will try this out tonight.

Nero isn't all that bad if you use the Nero Lite and Nero Micro packages. The core writing application is still very good, despite the bloat the whole package has received.

Still using Nero because it's been very reliable for so long. Currently using Nero 8.

I've been using this program ever since I discovered it a few months ago. It's lightweight and does exactly what it is designed to do. Love it!

I went to BurnAware Free a couple of months ago and haven't looked back.

Nero attaches itself to almost everything (the updater had issues) and even the simple burner is bloated. I have used Nero for *years* and have found that the designers are not interested in what other people want... their main goal is to charge a horrendous fee for a main stream app (even if someone wants just a basic burner) and to continue in that direction.

Bottom line... if you want just a burner look at other vendors beside Nero (BurnAware is a good alternative); if you want a burner with all of the music file editing capabilities then Nero is your application.

Last time I checked this (a few versions ago) it said it erased a DVD yet didn't do squat. Same crap happened just now when it said it erased a DVD (had some stuff on it) and burned a .iso image on it. Sure, but not in this life time.

[00:37:05] Preparing image
[00:37:33] Burn process started
[00:45:27] Burn process failed (Invalid Field In CDB.)
[00:45:28] Total time: 08:22
[00:45:28] Average write speed: 3,9x (5395 KB/s)

It failed misserably! I will just stick with Nero cos it never disappointed me, long live Nero!

Nero may be bloated but at least when it says it dose something it really DOSE that. Besides, anyone can get Nero Lite or Nero Micro packages as aren't bloated, have just what is needed to burn some CD/DVD with images, data, music, video, and so on.

I have never got BurnAware to make anything but coasters no matter who makes the DVD blanks they always always fail. But Nero will burn correctly every time. Tried the new version on Windows 7 and same results burn failed with three different blanks. Uninstall!!

Won't make bootable ISO's nor does it copy CD's & DVD's

Unless you pay for the better version, boo

Windows 7 has iso feature built in and seven has newer dvd burning software.

it's a great burning app. why look at nero bloated crap if all that you need is a solid burning program. this is what you need.

Burning CD with This and with Nero 9 under Windows 7 both ended with a mistake and when I ran out of blank disks, and haven't tried default explorer burner.
