:| ... ATI releases drivers every month... so far I havent had problems with them... Nvidia was the main causes of BSOD on Vista... lol
#1.3 Ricmacas on 23 Feb 2009 - 11:53
nVidia has more customers than ATI, of course there will be more BSODs caused by nVidia. :p

Just to let people know, if you are a GF7 user with Vista 32-bit; this is the third driver release in a row that will "code 43" on install. There is no issue under XP or Vista 64 so it seems.

NVidia are saying that the fix will be in a March Forceware release, not in this one.

& boo for not giving me news submission credit :@

i got a Geforce 7900GT with Vista (SP1) 32-bit myself.

your saying these will error if i try installing them?

cause the previous driver 179.24 is working fine for me now.
#3.2 c e 3 2 0 on 19 Feb 2009 - 12:01
179.24 isn't the previous driver. 181.22 and then 181.20 came before it.

178.24 works perfectly fine, however I and many others (see the previous driver release threads e.g. http://www.neowin.net/news/software/09/01/...ware-18120-whql or forums.nvidia.com for people with problems) cannot get the 7 series to work with the last three releases under Vista 32.

good thing I upgraded to Vista 64 and got a 9800 card!

Took this from Nividia website:

NVIDIA Graphics Supercharge Microsoft Windows 7

NVIDIA® graphics will take full advantage of the new features and functionality of Windows 7, the next generation operating system from Microsoft. NVIDIA has been working closely with Microsoft to enrich users’ experience with Windows 7 and to ensure that beta users of Windows 7 get full support and an unsurpassed graphics experience on NVIDIA-based graphics cards.

“We expect Windows 7, coupled with NVIDIA’s graphics technologies, to deliver the fundamental performance our mutual customers have come to expect. NVIDIA’s graphics technologies enable applications to take advantage of the visual capabilities in Windows 7 such as manipulating photos, video, and 3D graphics. With the expertise NVIDIA has in visual computing, they have been a key contributor to the development of Windows 7.”

Hopefully this will answer your Question.

At present I am running a Geforce 8800 GT Overclocked setting on Forceware Version 179.23 without any problems. Though when attempting to upgrade to the new 182 version the site stated an upgrade to the new version was not necessary.

vista 64 drivers are working fine here for win 7 64
#5.4 ksalter on 19 Feb 2009 - 04:17
Confirmed - installed 64 bit on win 7 64 (ran the installer in compatibility mode)

After finally playing with PhysX, it's a nice little system... compared to software program's having hardware dedicated to Physics is sweet

Ugh, this still causes NFS : Undercover to crash my whole machine on Win7x86.

Back to the default one for me
#10 MrFuji on 19 Feb 2009 - 15:42
Definitely having L4D improvements here

I've been getting framerate dips and screen freezes in WoW with this latest driver. Anyone else?
#12 c e 3 2 0 on 20 Feb 2009 - 22:08
I've been running it on a couple of GF6 systems for the last couple of days and I am seeing blue screens on standby resumption. Couple it with the fact that it doesn't work with the GF7 on Vista 32, and this to me is the third dud driver in a row.

The 181.20 worked fine for me on my vista 32 Geforce 9500 GT. c e 3 2 0: sounds like you got hardware probs and that must be why you have problems but i have not had a code 43 for a long time so it sounds like it's on your end and not nvidia's.
#15.1 c e 3 2 0 on 22 Feb 2009 - 12:19
The problem isn't evident on the 9 series, it's really a 7 series issue. It's done it on every 7 series that I've tried in the 180 release and Vista 32 and everything works fine with the 178 release.

Add in the number of other people with the same symptoms and the fact that NVidia have stated a fix is coming, I wouldn't agree with your diagnosis.

Early today an update via Windows Update (Win 7 - 64) came available for the new update to 181.20. Installed it about twelve hours ago, and at this point no problems. Also, install the linux version (Suse Linux 11.1) without any problems.
